Album: Sam Hatzaras 2007-2012

Sam Hatzaras is the Canadian musician behind   ƸC†OPL∆SM G∞gle, WHITE TRI∆NGLES and 5 or 6 other projects. The witch-y, psychedelic blend of trip-hop and ambient music on this compilation has captivated me on each listen. It's rich and well produced, and rises above the net-music ghetto, and into the  realm of serious electronic music.

The limited edition tape has sold out, and the release is now a free download, but he has  kept to the cassette format for the digital release,  an 'A' side and a 'B side'.  The material works well as a set, and the inability to skip encourages one to listen through. You will be glad you did.

The busy Hatzaras runs the label Revolving Door Records
--- jump to their Bandcamp and look through the many amazing releases.

EP: Savage Sister & Lykanthea // sundrowned

sundrowned, a collab between Savage Sister and Lykanthea is everything it ought to be. It aims at the right target and hits dead-center bullseye. This is the kind of music  Memoryhouse might  have made if they hadn't gotten signed; perfect dream pop shoegaze. The EP a is a clear '10', and one of the best we're likely to hear this year.

This, the astonishing remixes they've made, and what I heard of their forthcoming Wild Sleep EP (February 28), Savage Sister has established itself as a major artist. Lykanthea is Lakshmi Ramgopal, an experimental solo musician, also based in Chicago.

"Savage Sister is a kewl-bear dream pop/shoegaze/dreamwave band based in Chicago, made up of Michael Tenzer, Chloe Lundgren and Caitlin Klask."

Compilation: SVNSET WΛVES WINTER WINDS vol. 1

The wonderful people over at  SVNSET WAVES have put together another great free compilation of authentic underground DIY/internet electronic music, following the equally good RISING TIDES and SVMMER SVN, still available, btw . At 36 tracks by as many artists, the collection is formidable in scope, and  Corbin--the tireless enthusiast behind SVNSET WAVES-- has an excellent ear for quality material. He has collected capsule bio's on each artist featured, posted HERE.

Track: Savage Sister "Old Orchard Beach" (Magnetic Fields Cover)

DOWNLOAD: The Beatles EP COP FONT

Damaged messed-up psychedelic pop The Beatles is the ninth studio album by English rock group COP FONT. It is also commonly known as "The White Album", because it is white. The album marks the first time an artist has composed an entire symphony using only a kazoo. All sounds on The Beatles are kazoo sounds, although some have been heavily processed by powerful computers.

The album's sleeve was designed by Lorna Mills, a notable pop artist who had organized a Marcel Duchamp retrospective at the Tate Gallery the previous year. Hamilton's design was in stark contrast to Peter Blake's vivid cover art for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and in the morning I will remember what I am supposed to do.When you listen to this with coffee it may be so trippy that it  triggers 'body memory' of that last time you tripped your balls off. [citation needed]

Indeed, the artist intended the cover to resemble the "look" of conceptual art, an emerging movement in contemporary art at the time. This album was composed entirely for performance on a cheap dollar store kazoo.  COP FONT is now in hiding, possibly due to a lawsuit brought by Nike. He has been know to use a number of aliases, including  Spooky Cheddar.

Included is the hit "Dad Rock", a collaboration with Wolf In A SpacesuitThe Beatles has since been regarded as one of the best albums of all time.[51] In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked it number 10 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[52] In a retrospective review, Neil McCormick of The Daily Telegraph also viewed the album as one of the greatest and found it "so eccentric and interesting" that "even its sketchiest oddities somehow gain power amidst the cornucopia of ideas and performances. It is astonishing how many sounds one can make with a kazoo."

TRACK OF THE MONTH: MEISHI SMILE "PALE"

I remembered  "PALE" from  MEISHI SMILE's SPF420 set in June 2013. It's one of the best tracks I've heard lately, state-of-the-art dream-pop, or maybe dream-rave is a better term, because it's a glowing, breathing, side-chained future-bliss anthem that had me fist-pumping on the roof when I heard the track on a proper system.

"Lust" is from the forthcoming LP PALE, which drops January 28th on vinyl and CD, via Attack The Music,  and digitally via ZOOM LENS

Track: PALM COAST HIGHWAY "Dream Machine"

Great new track from  the fun machine BEER ON THE RUG  has the vintage sound of 2010; chillwave all-the-way. We like it like that!  It's from the album FANTASY RECORDINGS.

Track: Savage Sister "Katy Song" (Red House Painters Cover)

"Savage Sister is a dream pop/shoegaze/dreamwave band based in Chicago." -- from their Soundcloud. My kind of music, and a great re-visioning of the original.Their new  Wild Sleep EP drops on Feb. 18.

The Best 100 Albums / Part Two 1-50

So there you have it. It's just, like, the dude's opinion, man, but the dude started this list over a year ago, and thought about it a lot, so it's a sincere opinion. These 100 would suit me on a desert island---well, that and a good library.

Sure, I'll think of stuff I've left out, and I cheated a little by sneaking an extra album in there, and by including some compilation albums, but what the hell? People seem to love lists, and I loved making this one.
